She is best known for a series of novels she wrote beginning in 1908 with Anne of Green Gables and it became an immédiate success. She went on to public 20 novels, 530 poems and thirty essays. Orphan, Anne Shirley, the main character is affectionately known in Canada and across the globe as her stories of adventures in her province follow through the novels. She struggled with establishing her career and dealt with her husband who also fought with his own mental health. She was made an officer of the Order of Canada in 1935. This work is a tribute to great women who set high goals for themselves. This work is an encaustic mixed media collage on wood, 12″ x 12″ X 3/4″.
